Ingredients

  • 1 cuprice
  • 1 cupsplit moong dal
  • 1 tbspghee
  • 1 tspcumin seeds
  • 1 tspginger, grated
  • 1 tspturmeric
  • 1 tspasafoetida
  • 1 tspsalt
  • 1 cupswater

Ingredients

  • 0.75 cup rice
  • 0.5 cup split moong dal
  • 2 tbsp ghee
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 0.5 tsp ginger, grated
  • 0.5 tsp turmeric
  • 0.25 tsp asafoetida
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 4 cups water

Instructions

  1. Rinse rice and dal together; soak 10 minutes.
  2. Heat ghee in a pressure cooker; add cumin, ginger, hing, and turmeric.
  3. Add rinsed rice and dal; stir 1 minute. Add water and salt.
  4. Pressure cook 2 whistles on medium heat.
  5. Let pressure release; open and mash to a creamy, porridge-like consistency.
  6. Serve warm with extra ghee, pickle, and curd.
