  • onion, diced
  • green chili, minced
  • ginger, grated
  • mixed vegetables (carrot, peas)
  • mustard seeds
  • chana dal
  • curry leaves
  • ghee or oil
  • water
  • lemon juice
  • salt

Ingredients

  • 1 cup semolina (rava/sooji)
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 1 whole green chili, minced
  • 0.5 tsp ginger, grated
  • 0.5 cup mixed vegetables (carrot, peas)
  • 0.5 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1 tsp chana dal
  • 8 leaves curry leaves
  • 2 tbsp ghee or oil
  • 2.5 cups water
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Dry roast semolina in a pan until lightly fragrant, about 3 minutes; set aside.
  2. Heat ghee; add mustard seeds, chana dal, curry leaves, ginger, and green chili; let sizzle.
  3. Add onion; sauté 2 minutes. Add vegetables and cook 2 minutes.
  4. Add water and salt; bring to a boil.
  5. Slowly add roasted semolina while stirring continuously to avoid lumps.
  6. Cover and cook on low heat 3 minutes; stir once more. Squeeze in lemon juice.
  7. Serve hot with coconut chutney and coffee or chai.
