Inspired by Salvador's famous acarajé — a black-eyed pea fritter — this deconstructed bowl has crispy chickpea patties, vatapá sauce, shrimp, and salad. All the flavor, easier prep.

Ingredients

  • canned chickpeas
  • shrimp (cooked)
  • onion
  • dendê oil
  • cumin
  • paprika
  • salt
  • mixed salad greens
  • tomato
  • egg
  • lime

Ingredients

  • 400 g canned chickpeas
  • 150 g shrimp (cooked)
  • 1 medium onion
  • 15 ml dendê oil
  • 3 g cumin
  • 3 g paprika
  • 4 g salt
  • 80 g mixed salad greens
  • 1 medium tomato
  • 1 piece egg
  • 1 piece lime

Instructions

  1. Drain and mash chickpeas with onion, cumin, paprika, and salt. Form into 4 small patties.
  2. Fry patties in dendê oil over medium heat, 3 minutes per side until crispy.
  3. Hard-boil egg, peel and halve.
  4. Arrange salad greens and tomato in a bowl.
  5. Top with crispy patties, shrimp, egg halves. Squeeze lime over everything.
